Stupidest question ever, but...
Re: Stupidest question ever, but...
Apple+shift+3 grabs the screen and saves as a file on your desktop, then upload that file to an image host like imgur.com or imageshack and then post the link to the image in this thread.
Re: Stupidest question ever, but...
sorry but that is a bad shot, do you have an instrument inserted onto the midi clip, so the clip can actually play a sound?
and can you make a screenshot which will show the I/O section... you need to activate the little 'button' that says IO on the very left of the ableton GUI next to the master track underneath the scroll bar... to see your I/O routing of the tracks and master.
and did you tried playing an audio track instead of a midi track... my guess is, that you play a midi file on an empty midi track?
EDIT:
oops i just see, it is a doted meter that i can see, that means you do not play anything except you have an external midi instrument attached, do you?
you only play a midi file, a midi file does not contain any audio whatsoever, only pure information, you need to insert an instrument onto a midi track, in order to be able to hear something... try playing an audio file on an audio track, or insert a vst instrument and then the doted meter turns into an audio meter (that looks like the one on the master track) then you will actually here audio... you play an empty track.

yes you definetly playing a midi track with no instruments. on your screenshot the 'midi meter' is displayed as oposed to the volume meter.
Try to grab an instance of operator and put it on your track!

get a PC.
When you say the meters are showing output, this is the meter on the Master out?
Is Live the *only* audio application running?

I like this thread. It has been like watching a great mystery unfold.
MIDI clips just send instructions out that trigger MIDI instruments. The sound comes from the instrument, and your screen shot shows that you don't have any MIDI instrument in the track. Drag and drop Operator or Simpler onto the track and you should be jamming.

Greg... make a point of doing all of the built-in lessons that come with Live. You can access them from the Help menu and that panel that's on the right side of Live's screen in your screenshot. They're very helpful, and it will really get you up and running.
Fear not, you will never be far from us. We will be locked in this forum webpage for eternity.gregtzu wrote:I will never forget you, guys!!
