Possible to make Live NOT disable global rec after stop?

Post by posssu » Fri Jun 26, 2009 2:02 am

I find it quite annoying that the global rec-button switches off when I hit stop after recording. The way see it is that when I want to record stuff, I switch it on and record (while hitting stop and play again at some point) until I'm done. Especially when taking many takes of something, it's annoying to keep on hitting turning it back on all the time.

Any way to change this behaviour?

I'm a new Ableton Live user and I also noticed this (in the arrangement view). I mapped the play and record buttons to a midi controller, but maybe someone has a better solution for this.

This is actually the default behavior on mostly all DAW athough the others usually have a keyboard short cut to activate rec/play combination. Protool uses Ctl-Spacebar. I will try later to see if this works in Live. If not hopefully it has been suggested in the Featur Wishlist.

In Live it's CTRL+F9 but this is more than awkward to press. I record a 2-second take, hit undo, hit CTRL-F9, hit SPACE, play, hit undo, hit CTRL-F9....

Just the F9 key alone puts it in global record ready.

Not on a mac... F9 launches "Expose". You have to use CTRL-F9.
