AU/VST Crashes when I change the buffer size

Hi there guys, I have a continuing problem with AUs AND VSTs crashing live. I've tried using exclusively VSTs but this doesn't solve my problem. The problem is this, if I change the buffer size under latency in the live preferences menu, and then drop in a new VST into any of my tracks, live will usually crash. Sometimes it takes two tries, but it crashes eventually. Live also crashes sometimes if I change the buffer size when audio is playing. Generally, if I ever change the buffer size and don't exit and restart live, it will crash on me.

I am using a macbook with the last version of OSX leopard (not snow leopard), and an RME fireface as my soundcard.

Any guesses?

It seems to mostly occur when I am dropping in a new VST/AU instrument, more often than when I drop in just an effect.

I really don't think the problem is Plug-in specific as it affects ALL of my plugins. I think it is universal amongst all vst's and AU's.

I have also just confirmed for myself that I can get ableton to crash just by changing the buffer size while playing Addictive Drums.

please try the current beta: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=135773

or try this workaround using the options.txt: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=133496

This should fix at least most of the problems you got with AU plugins. In the case some plugins still crash (esp. VST plugins) i would like to ask you, if you can send me the crash logs from OS X to my email address.
