First go at Progressive House
First go at Progressive House
Today I thought I'd try my first time at some progressive house.
Here is the result:

Re: First go at Progressive House
Not sure if this is house but it does have the ubiqutious 4 on the floor kick. There is just too much missing for a house track. Sounds kind of plain and dry. Keep at it and add new elements. Don't be afraid to try new things so stop being concervative. Thanks for the share.
Re: First go at Progressive House
yeah I did not really know for sure if i could call it house. Kinda liked the relaxed atmosphere anyway haha. As I am fairly new in this genre, whatever this track will fall in;), would you happen to have any suggestions for adding some elements?
Re: First go at Progressive House
Nothing specific except to say house is full of energy. Pumping basslines and echoey fills. Try and imagine what makes you rock the dance floor. You have plenty of space available in your mix but don't overstep the instrumentation. If you are using samples, use them sparsely and just add them throughout. It is really up to what you want to convey to get people out of their seats. Good luck!
Re: First go at Progressive House
I like the mellow overall-sound-colour a lot. Sounds really good to me and fits the track, respect. If you're going for making the track even better, I'd recommend to work on the dramaturgic tension aspects in the arrangement. Not yet a masterwork here.
Also I maybe would add some backround rhytmic percussion like bongos...
Just my two cents...
thank you

@Aeroplay:
Thanks for the feedback. What exactly do you mean with dramaturgic tension aspects? Please fill me in!:)

Re: First go at Progressive House
Well, how can I describe that... impressive, inspiring and raising my mood!
Re: First go at Progressive House
Hi there
Well, you know every track has tension/dramaturgic aspects just like every story or film.To me that is a very important aspect, especially in electronic dance music. Tension is build up to a climax, and then is released usually when the beat drops. Great tracks are envolving and building up a dramaturgy with turns and tides that you can compare to a play by Shakespear, if you like
. On the other end of the scala there would be just beat out - beat in with nothing else at all happening and no "sign" or sense when the beat will actually drop. How Boring? Mainstream doesn't really seem to get it anyway, so - whatever
But a really good DJ or Producer in my eyes is very aware of those aspects. Classic music can be a good inspiration.
You can increase that tension already by only adding a little break in the right place, using some weird effects, or letting something unexpected happen... I think you get me.
I really enjoy your track anyway, maybe just keep it in mind for future productions...
Love and respect!
