essential dj effect plugins
essential dj effect plugins
i'm using live as an extern effects unit with my dj setup at the moment. I'm really into scratching and backspinning breaks and stuff.
I know there must be like tons of great vst effects i can use to spice up my set.
Anyone wants to share their list of effect plugins?

At the moment I just use Live's effects (EQ4 as a filter) and an inline sampler that a mate wrote.
But what I really want is a flanger like the one on the Pioneer DJM 500 DJ mixer. Unlike any other flanger I can find, this restarts the flanger cycle every time you turn the effect on, which is pretty essential for how I use it. Anyone know a VST equivalent? (Of course it would also need to sync to the beat.)

The ESSENTIAL Breaks/BnB plug: Supatrigga (Get the VST version for better response)
The obvious uses aside, try this.
Set the repeat really hight (64th or 128s)
Program a keystroke to the instant repeat slider/knob
Turn everything else down to 0
triggering the instant repeat will give you stutters that, when turned off, resume playing in time...
Also, it is a fairly obvious effect, so moderation is key.
I set all the randomness settings to >10 and NO Slow effect cuz it sounds crap.
Def worth the look.

15" PB 2.5 Ghz, 4 Gig RAM, 750 GB HD, Live 9 still no cue points or program change messages?!?. Doesn't do shit.

Funny - I use it fairly often. Yah, it's a digital sounding slowdown, not like a nice stop on a turntable but...kabuki wrote: ... and NO Slow effect cuz it sounds crap.
It has it's uses. Try it when you're dirtying up your beats with a bit crusher - then the digital feel of the slow on supatrigga won't stand out.
I have changed my username; Now posting as:

I'd really like to know what kind of effect jeff is using on the first break( 00:18 first vid ) . It's one of the djm-909 effects...

Anyone know of anything approximating a manual for SupaTrigga? I don't think it's working right for me, but without a description of exactly what each parameter should do, I can't be sure.
(Posted details of my problems here.)

Thanks for the link. One or two I haven't tried before. Trying them now.m-prez wrote:@robbmasters; here some free vst flangers http://www.sadglad.com/flanger.html
Edit: Still not what I'm looking for, unfortunately. But thanks again anyway.
