Post by mlee_aus » Wed Feb 17, 2010 9:20 pm

Hi Everybody,

I own a copy of Live 6 and have upgraded to Snow Leopard. Will Live 6 be comptible with Snow Leopard or will it crash like a BeeYatch!?

Like I wrote in your other thread - Live 6.0.11 runs ok under OS X 10.6.2 here. Dunno what the official stance is though...

Yes and I thank you for your reply.

I figured more people would chime in if the question I am asking is in the Subject. I would just like to know for sure because I can't be bothered with unstable software at the moment.

Is it possible to still buy Live 7? I tried the Live 8 suite a month or two ago and it was not robust.

Yes, this is a good strategy (both for the question and for Live :D ) - if you're ok with Live 6 for a bit, stay with it and keep trying the Live 8 demo versions every now and again until you're happier with the stability. I think I read on the forum that you just need a different email address per demo version, so you can try out the upcoming results of Ableton's quality drive... maybe 8.1.2... shouldn't be too long now...

Live 7 is no longer available as new, no. You might be able to get buy a licence second-hand (occasionally on this forum), as transferring licences is possible (see: http://www.ableton.com/pages/faq/license).

Live 8 worked for me under Snow Leopard before the "official" Snow Leopard build. I imagine Live 6 would work out, too. Does anyone know if Time Machine let you roll back from 10.6.X to 10.5.X?

or... use the free version of SuperDuper! to clone your drive and do the upgrade on an external drive and check that one out to see how it goes yourself.
I don't 'produce.' I write music.
