Dear god, I hope nobody has pics of me

Here are some of the parade: http://www.jeffc.be/carnaval2010a/

Here's another update (0.9.6): http://covops.dreamhosters.com/uploads/ ... 6.amxd.zip

- Fixed problem with duplicated entries

- Clips can now be stored outside of Learn mode. It remembers the settings of the last triggered clip.

haha! Looks like a fun carnival, lots of colours and some dodgey looking masculine Nuns :o

You really are on a roll today! I think the duplicate entry issue is something i came across too. Looking forward to testing 0.9.6, roll on 5pm :)

Bjorn, discovered that the maxforlive 5.1.3 update had actually failed the first time i applied it! Reapplied it last night and the clip mapper is now working as described - and I am one very happy bunny :)

Cool. Glad to hear that.
If you load a set and none of the stored data is there, try loading it again.
I've come across the problem a few times, but it isn't consistent enough to reproduce and file yet.

I finally get this, it's awesome......!!

Wish i'd got it a lot sooner...!!

I'm going to use it to give me my control over my sends without having to navigate to them with the blue hand etc....

And ultimately it could turn my APC40 into the dj mixer i hoped it would be with four tracks of audio, four tracks of dummy clips and then dj eq running upwards of bass mid and treble with gain vertically over the device control and track control knobs, play another clip and these turn into four sends etc etc.....

Cheers

The patch is awesome!

Unfortunately Clip Mapper can't map to sends on tracks, do you mean using the clip mapper to map to send functions on the Control Surface device? I was going to make a separate m4l rack that maps to 32 sends - 4 tracks with 4 sends, and then the 4 sends within the 4 return tracks. They would pretty much complete my DJ template mappings and i could then dump my nocturn as an FX box. I'm pretty much making the same setup as you

Also, Bjorn please correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't think the clip mapper can *currently* map 1 clip to more than 8 knobs and 8 buttons. To map 1 clip to 16 knobs (track control + device control) would require tweaks to the patch - I can see where you're coming from - You could really personalise the mappings for each clip and have overlapping mappings that simply wouldn't be possible using midi!

Yeah, for the sake of my own sanity I'm sticking with one version till this baby works flawlessly for most users. But the way the patch is designed, its only a copy/paste job to change it. You may have to change a few numbers here and there, but it definitely doesn't need to be built from scratch.

As for the sends and mixer controls, to expose those to the clip mapper you need a device that maps those parameters to Live.dial's. That way the Clip Mapper will allow you to control those parameters like with any other device.

Hi Bjorn,

Just to let you know that the patch is becoming a real workhorse in my set. It's solid! Not had any issues since updating to 5.1.3/0.9.6. I've also got my send bank working and have figured out how to get access to the return tracks too. Very happy...

One thing that would be cool is if you could enable the patch to be used in the master track (thus convert it to an audio plugin?). The reason being that I can't find a place for this on any unhidden parts of my set as I don't use midi tracks atm. I figure the best place for the patch is on the master channel, as I could easily flick over to it and see what my knob banks are mapped to... I did try to edit 0.9.6 last night by adding plugin~/plugout~ and linking them up, but the plugin won't load into master. Assuming it won't break the patch, can you help this nube!? 8O

Cheers,
Sunil

Consider it done ;)
You needed to copy/paste everything into a Max Audio Effect. Since my design was to detect which track a clip mapper was on, Master track shows up as track 0. So incidentally, if you were using the clip mapper on the first track earlier - all the data you stored will be reloaded in the audio plugin.

Hi Bjorn,

I spend a lot of time in the car mainly thinking about m4l at the moment, i'm going to implement your device in the master track as Sunil has to control the devices in the 8 send tracks i have.... Mapping the clip launches to the buttons on my xone1d.....

Trouble is the 1d doesn't have led feedback on the knobs.... Just an idea but is it possible to hardwire in the soft takeover element say for example a switch in the chain from the midi mapped knob that will only let the value through if it matches or is within 2cc of the previously stored value?

Cheers

Since I'm using MIDI Learn and/or Automap, you can make use of Ableton's soft-takeover feature.
I haven't tested this, but the knobs always go from 0. to 1. so if it doesn't work then its a M4L bug.

Many thanks for sharing this patch it is really useful.

Any chance of an option to save the parameter values along with the parameters?

So if for example I have the clip mapper set up for the same parameters for 2 different clips I can have independent parameter values?

Obviously I should patch this myself if I want it - not much experience with the pattr objects (so be a good opportunity to learn!)

Can you give me any tips. I guess I just need to find the bit where it saves the paramater names and add a bit to save the values.

Then find the bit where it loads the saved parameters and load and set the value as well.

Cant find there "s ---knob1 sends" too though!
