Ableton Sucks Again..
Re: Ableton Sucks Again..
Giving the guy shit for his command of english is bogus. It's not indecipherable, I can understand the guy by first accepting the fact his english isn't great and secondly by trying to understand him. Simple.
I've seen plenty of people debate the guy, but it's seemingly only those with the weakest arguments who pick on his english.
--
Secondly, his criticisms are bang on - he's not lying or making shit up. It's a forum for feedback, and he's giving it. It's not called 'the ableton fan club' so, again, it's bogus to accuse him of trolling just because you have an emotional attachment to a brand and take his comments as 'negative' and too personally. Perhaps if the board had less emo fanboys and rampant apologists over the years maybe Ableton wouldn't have allowed themselves to become so cocky with respect what's acceptable to sell to a loyal userbase. Now the most current state of Live is a complete clusterfuck by all accounts - still after nearly a year of accepting money for it.
Lastly, ableton live 7 is my main host in the studio and I still recommend ableton to folks but I have no emotional attachment to any brand - merchant - or supplier, so I let them know of the pitfalls to avoid with respect ableton's bad business habits. Buy & use the last mature revision (means scouting for used licenses because Ableton prefer to sell/push their current much buggier model), and subsequently ignore the bullshit $30 coupons or similar enticements encouraging you to be an early-adopter for their almost yearly updates etc. see: experience.
If someone is telling LIES - then I can see the point in militantly contradicting them, but otherwise IMO it's counter-productive in the long run and you're not doing the entire userbase or ableton any favours by fervently stifling bona fide criticisms just because you're content in your particular circumstance.
so I surely hope, for quality standard's sake, 3phase and others like him aren't discouraged from commenting/venting by the lame trolls with the bogus apologist remarks.

propagated in all likeliness by those with more accumulated experience using cracks than paying for software.

I use no cracks and have no problems, what is you problem with this?
THIS IS FACT!

Re: Ableton Sucks Again..
^^^ well nice for you, i don't use cracks and the latest versions of everything, plugs, apps, etc. and i do have crashes a lot again, out of the blue 8.1.1 was good for a few weeks and nothing changed in my setup or software and i have crashes again... and most i can't pinpoint, and you want to tell it is supposed to not make one seriously angry, all i want is to make music damn it.
i just started a new set, a drumrack with 3 sounds a convolution reverb in the rack, one aas ultra analog and 2 tassman4 plus one more convolution reverb on a bus, no other plugs yet, all legal software and it crashed during shutdown of live. I also already the supposed helping options.txt patch and i still can't move larger chunks in arrange without ZAP! it crackles whenever i move or create devices or tracks during playing (that much to realtime) and i have other random crashes i can't pinpoint, all that happened after weeks as i said out of the blue... the first 2-3 weeks of 8.1.1 where fine...????!!!!
i stopped being angry, even i have all reason to be, i just want to see it solved FAST!

I am currently running the same set on a full license- Two platforms, 4 different OS's. So is my colleague. We both have major bugs / crashes.
You are wrong.

Re: Ableton Sucks Again..
to subfunk, I have continued problems with crashes related to opening/closing/quitting/hiding synth when using ultraanalogue. seems to be consistent and reproducible crashes
Re: Ableton Sucks Again..
I am going to develop a service. It's called Liveformax. For a fee I will port your work into a maxruntime facsimile. Just kidding. I am thinking about taking a years worth of work and porting it over to a max.app. It seems completely absurd but I am already in the process of doing it. Beats whining.
