Live Lite 8 instruments not showing up in device browser

Some folders show no instruments even though they are there if you open in windows explorer. All folders show considerably less instruments than are actually in the folder. Like 4 or 5 when there are 15+ in the folder. I tried uninstalling and deleting device folder and reinstalling everything but it made no difference. I just upgraded from Live Lite 7 to 8 and did not have any problems previously.

can you give an example of an instrument preset showing up in Explorer but not in Live´s browser?

Here is one example:

In the device browser under Instrument Rack\Synth Brass\ there are no instruments shown. If you open that folder in windows explorer there are:

brass-brassinki, brassstrings, brassy analog, bright brass, celebrate brass, cozy copper, greasy grey, OB brass, soft brass, soft horns, Symphonic seventies, synth french horn

synth brass-analong pad brass 1 and 2, blade swells, dirty crystals, dusky swells, might as well, silk horns.

I understand some of these are locked out because it is the Lite version, but it should show the ones that are available in the device browser, right?

Sorry I'm bumping this year old thread, but it's the only one I found with someone having exactly the same problem as me, and unfortunately no solution has yet been given.

I am in the exact same situation as the O.P, so I won't confuse this by reexplaining.

Help will be greatly appreciated, since it is quite a bummer to have to go back and forth between Live Lite and Windows Explorer to load instruments!

yes I am having the exact same problem with sylenth....im running the latest version of ableton on win 7 64 bit. I have tried so many different suggestions from the lennar digital forums and none of them work. First I was asked to run ableton as administrator ...that did not work then I was told to do this...

1. Delete your Live preferences file (found in C:\[user folder]\Roaming\Ableton
2. Take Sylenth1.dll OUT of the VSTPlugins folder
3. Launch Live
4. Exit Live
5. Put Sylenth1.dll back in the VSTPlugins folder
6. Launch Live


that shit didn't work either. I cannot finish what I am working on unless I can get the sylenth to work.
CAN Anyone help with this issue...its probably something very easy that im just not seeing. but I have followed all the directions perfectly I believe

I know this is an older thread, but I was going to ask a question about the instruments.

I'm also using Live Lite 8 and noticed there were many instrument folders in the browser with only a few or no instruments (I never opened them with Explorer until now).

I figured Lite only gave you access to certain instruments, and you would get access to all of them if you upgraded (and even more with Suite 8 ).

Am I supposed to have access to these instruments?
