creative visionary Josh 'supster' Von - LiveSet Spring '05

Post by supster » Tue Mar 29, 2005 4:51 pm

hehe ... ok just kidding about the creative visionary part .. lol ... (sorry rob, couldnt resist :P )

Anywhere .. here are nine tracks mixed, edited and produced in ableton Live. It also features two of my productions.

Josh Von - 'Satisfaction' - LiveSet Spring '05

Download http://www.asmodaios.com/JoshVon

Most of the tracks have minor to major edits. Tracks were chopped, re-arranged, remixed… custom loops were created and software instruments used to add new elements.

Track 2 - 'Satisfaction’ - is my remake of an 80’s cover of the 60’s song by the Rolling Stones.

Track 9 – Slowrider - is one of my originals. This is an unmastered near final version – I got it as ready as I could due to time constraints - sounds good enough for the mix so I put it in.

I plan on posting some tech notes about how i did some of this on my site when i get a chance. Hope you like it, let me know what you think

(and fyi yes I am 'supster' on this board - am some variation of that retarded name just about everywhere i post have been for years)

it's worth the wait!

I got to hear this yesterday, and it's a great listen.

The DJ in me was really impressed with the track selection.
The budding producer in me was always busy trying to figure out what was going on (in a good way).
The casual listener in me was never bored listening to it all.

Good stuff

supster - whats the deal with your ISP - i tried downloading the set and i was reaching the heady speeds of 3k a second.
that is ridiculously slow and i'm on a t1 line.

sort it out! (and i'll listen to the mix)

I'm sure its great but does it need to be at so high a bit rate?
You can get away with 128bps without any serious loss of quality - certainly that will
mean more people will get to hear your mad skillz instead of getting bored and cancelling the download - then if they're really keen you can make a higher quality download available!

thanks! :) ... and, sorry about the wait, thanks for having the patience

looks like im going to have to spring for hosting - my buddy has been kind enough to give me a temporary home but unfortunately its not a hi-bandwidth situation

also i have a couple of new things im going to make available for download - the Devo edit being one of them - so its probably time

in the meantime - if anyone would like to check it out and you own soulseek - my username is supster on there as well

look in the livesets folder (there no commercial releases on my share for those concerned ;) )

you're probably right .. the producer in me naturally went for the highest bitrate, but its really not necessary. im so used to hi-bandwidth connections it didnt occur to me that it might make that much of a difference

again - in the meantime soulseek users my username is supster - share is up. appreciate feedback of all kinds guys, danka ..

heh.

Rob told me in his creative visionary thread that he was going to send me a cd..............

Listening to your set now. Dug the intro....! Sound quality is great, I've only just started listening so I'll post back in a bit.

The transition from Star Sailor to Devo was smooth as a babies ass...

Nice.
