Using 8.1.1 suite, with the APC40, and no matter what I do, this device does not work. There is a template in the midi section of the prefs for APC40.
When the APC40 is connected, windows (xp) asks for a driver, there is no driver anywhere to be found, is this OK?
Thanks
APC40 not working with live 8
Re: APC40 not working with live 8
There is no separate driver for the APC40. When you first connect it, XP is apt to say "Connect to the Internet to look for a driver?" Tell it "not this time." Then it will ask you if you want to install the driver automatically. Say yes. Then it will tell you that your device is installed and ready to use.tamirh67 wrote:When the APC40 is connected, windows (xp) asks for a driver, there is no driver anywhere to be found, is this OK?
If anything other than that happens, something is probably wrong -- please tell us exactly what went on.
You must have the APC40 properly connected to your computer before you launch Live.

So I tell it to find the driver automatically, and windows replies that it cannot find it, and the device did not install properly.
In the driver manager, you see a big yellow question mark on the Akai APC device.
Does this happen to anyone else?
Thanks

Right-click the device, select "uninstall", restart your machine, and try again.tamirh67 wrote:So I tell it to find the driver automatically, and windows replies that it cannot find it, and the device did not install properly.

Oh yeah, one other thing.
Right click "My Computer," select Properties, then Advanced, then Environment Variables. Create a variable named devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices (lower case) and set its value to 1.
After that, when you run Device Manager, you will have an option in the View menu that wasn't there before; "Show hidden devices." When you select that option, you will see drivers for devices that are not physically connected to the computer. It is at least possible that those devices will include one that is a partial or incorrect install of a MIDI driver for your APC40.
