Hi guys,
perhaps someone can help me with this:
for example I try to automate the volume parameter of an utility effect that cuts the volume every twice 16th bar, I wonder why it isn't synchronized with the track... now I change my global latency to an high amount and its causing the automation to be delayed..... in other words, when i put the latencies to the smallest amount my automation is synchron with the beat, but when i higher the latencies it's not!
so automation-curves depend on the latency, which is a hugh problem for precise work.... you know what i mean?
Latency issue with effect automations
Re: Latency issue with effect automations
I have just discovered this automation timing issue.
I had every snare hit with an automated send to rverb. When I changed the latency settings to 1024 the automation did not "catch" the snare!
Is there any light that can be shed on this? I hate to think everything can sounds so drastically different by changing the latency?
I thought Live COMPENSATED for latency?????

Re: Latency issue with effect automations
thought i'd bring this topic up again.
i have the same problem -- at higher latency rates the automation is not in sync and it's quite hard to arrange tight parameter changes like that.
-- especially as this delay changes anytime i change the latency.
i made the latency rate now part of my project names
but it would be nice if it worked the way it should?
ah yes, and i do have latency compensation switched on

Re: Latency issue with effect automations
nice idea to name the project files with the latency amount....
But it seems there's no solution for this, I think the problem lays in the core programming of live, but it's somehow embarrassing for such a brilliant program

Re: Latency issue with effect automations
Live only does plugin delay compensation for audio, not midi or automation. It sucks, the Abe's know it sucks and it's on the to do list (it's a looooong list though).
If you do a search, there's a big thread about it somewhere.
