In Britain and most of the EU isn't the age like 14 when you can start. That's what it is in the States.
The issue isn't the age....but the utter lack of any kind of humane labor laws in China which Apple and others like to pretend don't exist.

I personally have no issues with child labor as long as it isn't forced and they are given the same pay and benefits as an adult doing similar work.
In the US we seem to have this single-minded stance to push kids through a failing education system and then prodding them through a higher education system that they leave just as stupid as when they entered except with a debt ranging from the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not to mention if everybody went to college there wouldn't be enough well paying jobs they "qualify" for to accommodate them all. There already isn't enough as it is.
If somebody was allowed to enter the workforce in their early to mid teens they'd probably be more financially successful in their mid 20's than there status quo counterparts just being spit out of the college system and into the workforce for the first time.

How many PC's are made under the same conditions? Oh, right, ALL OF THEM
Same goes for just about everything else in the electronics world...cheap labor = maximized profit, regardless of industry, product, or brand.
