Sends and muting?

Hi guys,

can't for the life of me work out how to send a signal to send without having 2 sets of the same signal reaching the master. I can du this with a roundabout way of setting up key mapings for this to work, but I need a simple answer. If I can do this using an apc 40, even better.

to the left of the knobs that send sends to sends there are little boxes that say either 'pre' or 'post'. set them to pre and then you can turn the fader for a track off and only send it to a send. post means post fader.

It depends on what your intention is with the send.
If you are trying to run an effect, it might be a matter of wet/dry.
If you want your original source to fade out completely, you can use Utility for a phase trick.
If you send all audio to sends anyway, I'd set your audio channel to 'sends only'. Which then leaves you the option of having the crossfader assigned to your effected and dry sends.

What I'm trying to achieve is a Scenario where by sending the Sgnal I'm getting a wet/dry effect, but as this is a second signal I need the volume of the source to be turned down as I turn the send up.

If you want your original signal to disappear into purely effected signal, then you can have your for example Reverb in an effect rack. The effect rack would have two layers.

1. Reverb set to wet

2. Utility Phz-L and Phz-R turned on.

The signal will send to both at once as you turn up the knob. but the Utility will cause your original signal to cancel out leaving you with only the Reverbed signal.

Things to be aware of:
You can't really double up sends in this manner because you are then doubling the negated audio, leaving you with the source again.

It gets pretty quiet inbetween, you could amplify the reverb or something.

Reverb doesn't like when L and R are out of phase from each other because it is in mono , but that isn't entirely related to this haha

HMMM seems not really. I did however find that i cann assign one control to two parameters then invert their actions. So turning up the send can move the fader down while my fader can work independantly by itself. Only problem is I can only assign one send to the fader not multiples so they work the same. Annoying.
