Lemonade (POLYGLOTT ft. DASTIE) - Erol Alkan & Boys Noize

Post by hwelsh » Sat Feb 27, 2010 1:57 pm

The preview for this song was too catchy, so, with a piano rework somebody did over at the erol alkan forums, I made a little remix.

feedback greatly appreciated. please do not be afraid to be harsh, I am grateful for the help.

First thing that stook out to me was 'use a different warp algorithm' on the piano loop. Perhaps Re-pitch or something, as it sounds too grainy.
The switch at 1.00 is wicked and I wasnt expecting that.
As the track develops later on, the synth on the drop sounds a bit too sporadic and the Kick needs accentuating.

is it possible to change the warp algorithm just for certain parts of a track? I only know how to go into preferences and change the global warp settings, and I don't know how this would effect the other warped sounds.

what do you mean by sporadic? like the melodic part of it is too jumpy? I think I know what you mean, but wanted be sure.

it wasn't until you mentioned the kick did I realized how quiet it sounded (argh) but I've fixed it (i think) and I'm going to upload the new version later this evening.

thank you so much, I really appreciated the feedback.

Peronally, I have mixed senses about this track. I guess it all depends on where it will be applied. Sounds sort of nice for a computer game but even then the mixing is not very evenly keeled. Sounds just jump in and out but aren't glued to the mix as a whole. Perhaps this is likened to what Re.mark is eluding to about sporadic. You already noted the kick not having any presense. I think another go at the mix to balance things out a bit may help. Looking forward to hearing the remix. Thanks for sharing.

wooo, thank you! all of the tips are gold!

were there any sounds that jumped out specifically? There are parts where I really wanted it to come in suddenly, but I'm sure there are other parts that are not mixed nicely, accidentally. I have trouble keeping an objective ear as I'm dancing.
