Don't Read Unless You Like Free Beer, Good Music, + NYC

Post by contakt321 » Tue Mar 02, 2010 3:36 am

If you reading this thread, I can assume some good things:
- You like beer, or LOVE beer, especially free beer
- You like good music, hopefully one of the following genres: house, dubstep, UK funky, garage, 2-Step
- You live in NYC

If this doesn't sound like you, please find another thread :)

Jokes!!!

Seriously though:

This Thursday, March 4th, is my monthly party, TURRBOTAX®, a night dedicated to all things bass, spanning house, dubstep, UK funky, garage, 2-Step, etc. It's always a fun night, the residents use Ableton, Serato, and Traktor, and better yet, there is free beer, yes, you read correctly, FREE BEER.

So, yes, good music, good times, a few forum celebrities have been known to stop by ;), as do many of the NYC dj crews, some magazine and blog editors, etc - just wanted to invite the rest of you out.

Details:

@ Cacti - Damn! I need to get over to Brooklyn Bowl myself. I get invited to all the special events, just been hectic.
@ Mike - He is playing for 1.5 hours and will be going on late (12:30 or 1). You have plenty of time to spare to get there for the 2nd hour of free beer :)

BK bowl is good times. I can't bowl for shit, but when you add alcohol to the equation, talent becomes irrelevant

Plus I've heard their fried chicken is the BOMB. Gotta try that sometime.

Anyways back on-topic. Turbotaxx is also fun times every time. I'm there.

This is a situation where living in Hoboken as opposed to Brooklyn is problem. A late nite party with free beer, Ablenerd dj sets, and people that I want to hang out with again. The trouble is that I'm going to see my friend's comedy troupe that night, which still leaves time afterward to make it to the Turrbotax, but I'll be with the lady and it's a school nite for both of us. And.. and... and...

If I still lived in BK it would be easy. The extra hour plus getting home is the trubs.

Shart.

@ Aqua Tek - YESSS!
@ Hidden Driveways - One of these days man. PS: Feel free to just from from 10-11, get tanked and leave.
@ Funky Shit - NOOOO!
@ Dum - Newest UK genre, generally 4/4 w/ almost dancehall like snare patterns, inventive synth patches, and heavy dubstep like bass. Here is an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtDjMlfkunc

Didn't know the guy from Spandau Ballet started making Dubstep!
Holy Jeebus! That Uk Funky is the most god awful shit I've ever heard, sounds like the fusion of the shittest bits of Garage and R&B 8O
