Just read the QUALITY statement
So I just read the QUALITY statement issues before the new year.....I don't really know how to feel about this. i mean I think we all do agree that what we want is quality over quantity, but hearing ableton saying it jst made me realize that they want to apoligize for the last year of crashed, and I doubt they feel bad until they realized how horrible their reputation has become. If ya really want to make those of us who ran out and bought your software (version 8)cause we all loved what 7 brought to light, then give us a future discount on products such as upgrades to nine, discount off upgrades between levels (ya know eight to suite, intro to eight) or discount on max for live. I know that you guys do not want to hear this in this economic times, but you have to believe and I am sure you guys have read all across the internet are stories of 8's quality. So what do you guys do but start placing rave reviews of 8 on your site. That does not sound like facing the problem but covering it up. After a long period crashing for all of us except a few (which I have to guess that either they were not pushing the program, or they work for you guys). You might now want to hear all this but I've always thought honesty is the best way to learn and progress.
I hope you guys make this right by everyone because I am sure that the serato folks are not happy about all the posts about the concerns about 8 stability issues with a very their stable product. Head to the reason chat room and read the "might as well steal software posts to see what can happen when products are released a year to early, to a products reputation and how it makes folks feel for jst one exsample.

All i can say and i really feel this is that Ableton for me have one of the best open door policies regarding their customer interactions. You would not get this openess with the majority of other providers - for example steinberg where appalling and after 13 years and after using live for year and half i left them in 2002 to use live exclusively.
Live is 90% stable for me in the studio and the other 10% i work with. I have one sole focus at the moment and that is production - so whatever happens to arrive during that process that stalls or perhaps postpones the work then i take that in my stride ( 95% of the time
5% through a slight berky)
In the next week we will begin stitching together our new live rig with a new set of hardware laptops etc etc and if live hasnt sorta stabilised by mid May then we have another series of evaluations to make regarding how we ensure we dont disapoint the crowds when we are out and about and also from our point of you end up looking like aright pair of tits. Maybe reverting to live 7 will be the way - not sure yet ......
Live is for me the No.1 musical instrument in my studio and i love it flawz and all. Hell even Johnny Cash was fked up at some points in his career and life but we still appreciate him and make room to accomodate his journey.
As Billy Conolly once said. "Appreciate appreciate appreciate ! There is alot to appreciate in live and i mean a lot.
best

Re: Just read the QUALITY statement
Guys I do truly love live, even though it might not seem like it based on some of my posts. And as far as stability at the moment I am probably above 90% as far as problems go. (win 7 64 bit, komplete 6, lauch pad, apc 40, lp8, lpk25, korg pad studio, reason 4/record, mpk 25...and so on). I will have to agree that 8 has come along way towards being considered a "stable program." The main point I wanted to get across is I feel that you should not release a product until it is ready OR charge less for it in the beginning until it become a stable program. I love what live can do, but compared to other DAW's that I play with I do not have nearly the amount problems, and yet I still go back to live.
Live 8 is like that girl who cheats on ya, yells at ya, but at the end of the night ya always find yourself in her bed not matter what for the ride of your life. We just need to make an honest woman out of live and we'll all be happy.

I'd be lying if I said I probably have bumped into one or two scary ableton girls on the strip

So how was she?
Did she give you a fantastic experience and just near the end..... she crashed out and turned blue.
Bet she never gave you your money back.

Re: Just read the QUALITY statement
if they deliver what they promised on the quality post i'll be happy
I have spent since live 8 came out a considerable amount of time with it (by my standards) and i've gotten better at it, regardless of it crashing (sometimes at startup) or whenever i use reaktor in more than 4 channels, but since i upgraded to the suite as well, most of the time has been spent trying to get to grips with all the instruments and all of the enhancements over live 7.
It has been a fun year, with crashes?, yeah, fun nonetheless
Also, everywhere now, people know about the quality post so there's nowhere to hide

She grabbed me while I was wakin (for her love )down the strip. She wined me dined me and caught some raging shows. Then we went to her Penthouse at the Belagio, With about 6 of her friends cutest little friends (Komplete 6) we headed to the bed room. Then right before we were gettin in bed for the time of our lives, Miss ABleton passed out hard on the floor. So it seemed only LOGICAL REASON to give her friends a run for their money. I'll tell ya I'm not scared of a big girl but one of those girls were MASSIVE.
When I woke up my new favorite girls were all still there but miss ableton, along with all our Va Goose Winning were no were to be found.
ha ha ha ha hey at least think is making me laugh about the problems of crashing then just getiing mad

Re: Just read the QUALITY statement
there does seem to be something special (bad) with live 8
but if i had to guesstimate a number based on forum posts, I would say live 8 is 25% worse than any previous version
i mean, you say "because we loved live 7" but seriously, every time a new version comes out, it's a non-stop bitch fest.

Re: Just read the QUALITY statement
I didn't upgrade to 8, so expect no compensatory offer from Ableton, however, I kind of agree that people who did buy into Live 8 (say before their "quality" statement), should be given a discount when 9 is released.
I have a feeling that Live 9 is going to be much more thoroughly tested before release. At present, their reputation is fragile but still intact enough to hold their heads up, however, rush releasing 9 will cost them dearly and likely spell the end to what is otherwise a superb product.
Personally, I don't wish to change platform yet again, so my hope is that Ableton put quality before trade show bookings and deliver a much more stable product than 8 was.

I am sure that all of us who have been dealing with all the problems prior to the statement, especially if we bought it in in the beginning.Jarvisimon wrote: I kind of agree that people who did buy into Live 8 (say before their "quality" statement), should be given a discount when 9 is released.

I'm not sure if you can call the response to Live 8 "bitching". It was clearly not ready for sale when it was released. I would call it "anger" more than "bitching".davepermen wrote:welcome to internet forum behaviour rule 1: always bitch on the new stuff, always point with the finger and cry.
