I currently have Live 7 on my PC and recently got a new macbook pro and am about to purchase a version of Ableton Live 8 and I am wondering if I have the ability to use two controllers simultaneously with Ableton. One would be the APC 40 and the second would be some form of keyboard (most likely an Akai keyboard).
Not sure if anyone else out there knows if this is possible or if anyone is using two controllers at the same time...
any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated!

Absolutely. You can use as may controllers as you like simultaneously with Live. You can use the controllers either in "Control Surface" mode or just plain MIDI Mapping mode, or combinations thereof.

word, thanks for the response. I mean I have two usb ports so it seemed like it would work. I just want to use my apc 40 to control the volume and trigger sounds/loops, but I'd like to have a keyboard that is hooked to a separate channel with an instrument so that I can jam on top of whats playing from the apc 40.Pitch Black wrote:Absolutely. Easy. You can just change the MIDI input of your Instrument track from "All Inputs" to "Akai Kbd In" (etc). Or set your MIDI controllers to transmit on different MIDI channels.
