Are there videos around that show the LP and/or Apc40 in action for more than just 10 minutes and are not tutorials but full djsets? I know it's a bit hard to get the apc and the screen into a video and quite a lot data to upload... But I think it would help me to see the LP or APC in real action ...

@earlier post:yes please, do the video!!!

i recorded a short vid yesterday showing what i was talking about with follow actions and also using it just to play just a one shot clip instead of a loop, but each time i tried to upload it to youtube the video would go like 4 times faster than usual and it would only load 30 seconds of it. uploading it to facebook right now so hopefully that works.

I was just messing with this.. I usually only use 6 out of the 8 tracks on the LP, and usually only 6 of the 8 scenes so theres a 2x2 spot for these one shot samples, mostly just effects, but it's nice to be able to throw those in there and not have a whole other pad controller to launch them..

The follow clip arrangement is fun.. It's also good to try launching scenes with the clips lined up, it makes some pretty cool patterns..

My vids aren't anything too crazy, but the first one is the follow action setup, kinda remixin' my own song with this technique..

Notice how at :33 I launch the 3rd scene, which launches the 3rd slice of each loop and makes a nice beat repeat intro type thingy.

the first one is pretty much what i was trying to show.

it's better to use a launchpad though because you have 8 rows going down. the APC40 only has 5 so i could only cut my loop into 4 pieces.

nice work though.

By using the Clipstop, trackselection, activator, solo/cue and record/arm buttons, you could use 10 buttons in a row on the APC40. Don't know how to do this, but it should be possible, I guess. Should be a lot of work compared to the LP.

Another question about that followaction-sequencing: how do you set up the sounds and tracks for the MLR/molar style sequencing? Warp it and then slice to midi?

You should name your video launchpad "mlr" style... Monome is MUCH more than mlr...

Just, for the 6 row thing in the apc, why not use it as a remote controler and map it horizontally ?

Thanks for the video... what's the most efficient way to prepare a sample so that you can play it the mlr-style? slice to midi doesn't work, I can't seem to find a way to drag the sliced samples to audiotracks... is it possible to assign the playposition of a single Sampler device to a row of dummyclips with followactions?

this is essentially what the monomulator does, which you only need max msp runtime for, but then the whole surface works like a monome, not just a specific row.

i havent tried to map the other buttons to trigger clips, but i'll play with it later to see if it can be done. but you are right, it's a lot more work compared to an LP.

my plan is to get an LP to use in conjunction with the APC40.

the reason i don't sequence it horizontally is because i still need my other channels for the different parts of my songs (drum beat, bassline, music loops, tops, etc) thats why i want to get an LP also. i'll be using my APC40 to launch the different loops and clips of the songs i'll be playing/remixing live and then on the launch pad i'll have it set up to have different vocals and drum beats or whatever being sequenced with follow actions so i can just jump around those loops whenever i want.

you don't need to chop up any of the clips, you can just copy them down and change the start/stop points in the clip. so that they all come together like puzzle pieces for the full loop.

Yeah, I found that out too now... but still it's not a nice workflow. Do you have any alternative workflows? Maybe just one sample that is triggered by a row of dummyclips with envelopes for the sample offset? Is there an option to work with that?

Thanks for the tip, I actually know nothing about monome, mlr, molar vst, all that stuff..
