I also didn't know Britain lost any wars in recent history. I thought their new method was giving back colonized countries to the locals and letting them destroy themselves.

The weird thing about the Netherlands is that it was first a republic, and then, after Napoleon, it turned back into a monarchie.

Not too recently, late 19th and early 20th century we were losing everything and didn't just give places back.
