PROBLEMS WITH UPGRADE TO SUITE

Hello all.

Just bought Live 8.0.1, installed on my new computer (which is off line) tried opening older live projects from other computers and was informed that my new current edition was not the latest etc. So upgraded to live suite on line (via a laptop) but dont seem to have installed live suite as only 8.0.1 is running. Tried the latest version download and this will not install! So just spent loads of cash for a product that wont even open my older projects.

So to recap: Brand new Live 8 in box that installed fine but unable to install update and suite! WTF? Very frustrated as I expect a product to work properly when I have paid that much cash. Can anyone help me?

Fair point, I will try and explain in more detail.

Purchased live 8 (in box) version 8.0.1 and this installed fine on my brand new desktop synergy running windows 7 (plenty of memory etc).

Realised that previous projects from my friends computer were from live 8 version 8.0.3. So purchased the live suite update on line from ableton site. I assumed that this update would be inclusive of the current version of live and thus would open work saved on the 8.0.3 version. I have all the extra suite instruments now installed on the synergy but the version of live still shows as the 8.0.1 and still tells me that the projects I want to run from the friends laptop are made by a more recent version (8.0.3). I then tried installing the latest update file from ableton website on my synergy via usb stick but the file cannot find a target file. My suite update shows on my ableton account as being licensed and registered.

So I currently have ableton 8.0.1 running fine and also live 8.1.1 installed but only offering the demo version. I have tried to follow the instructions to authorise this version but no joy.

It seems the suite update has only applied to the origional version of 8.0.1 that i bought in the box so how do I get this to the latest version which would then (I assume) open the projects saved on 8.0.3? and why did the suite update I bought on line not give me the latest version?

I hope this makes more sense...
