In general I'd say piano lessons and hardware. Piano just to learn chord theory. Hardware like a mic pre (Empirical Labs Mike E or Avalon), a Moog Voyager, an interface mod by Black Lion Audio, or check out a company called Shadow Hills.
IMO music is all about melody, timing, practice and if you're lucky a bit of hardware. That said, you either hear cool melodies in your head (or in the air) or you don't, but it doesn't hurt to know when to play a half step or a whole step and why.

Can't go wrong there! As people have said, first thing sort out your room acoustics. For DNB a hardware synth couldn't hurt. Don't buy software, you can do that anytime, unless you've got a little left over. Then go 4 something pricey like Spectrasonics, Altiverb, or some of that dreaded vintage modeled stuff. Maybe UAD or Waves (SSL/JJP/CLA). Those SSL plugs are workhorses. Analog summing? Seems like that's what people do when they get to a certain level. Never tried it myself of course. Sorry to go on, fun topic.
Edit: Mike O had some interesting suggestions there.

I have been taking piano lessons for the past 4 months, coming along quite well. Also built some bass traps and the like. Everything is starting to fall into place well...oh yeah I also got komplete 6, Love it.

Current studio equipment:
PC - Custom build from Rain Recording 3.0 Quad core AMD Phenom Black edition, 4 GBs of RAM, Windows XP 32 bit
DAW - Ableton 8 suite
Maserting software - Izotope Ozone 4
Interface - RME Fireface 800
Controllers - APC 40, M-audio Axiom 49
Speakers - JBL LSR 4328p and a JBL 4312p sub - Event PS6
Furman PL Plus DMC 15v power conditioner
Now i think a better question to pose which would yeild better results....Considering what i already have for equipment, what else should i add to my setup to optimize a creative enviroment for making DnB/Aggrotech (TBM)?
Note i have a current budget of $5000 USD (i could spend more if needed) How would you spend this money to break out some good tunes? Thanks
250$ room treatmeant
500$ nice workstation
roland fantom but dont spend more than 500$ not worth it, just scan ebay and craigslist for a while and snipe one.
$500
juno 106
$300? ikmultimedia tRacks suite
1000$ good stereo preamp
$500 sweet plugins
save the rest, and if you cant do it with that you...well....i dunno maybe you should just throw some more money at it

For 250 Bugs you get one broadbandabsorber from a store or maybe 2 if you build it yourself in a proper way. Now that's not what i would call a room treatment. Check out what you have to do here...:

? i agree with the juno..
dont waste money on plugs.. buy an UAD card... forget about the rest...
and even when i like good preamps.. and have many.. the RME has pretty decend ones inside allready..
roomtreatment is a good idea..but except you do it with a specialist more harm than good can be done..
you should expect 2000+ for that

Sorry to disagree here, i'm very much into this subject and i can tell you that if you do some serious research and if you are a not too untalented craftsman you can do a lot of improvement to your monitoring situation. But of course it's also good fun buying and tweaking an analog synth...
