When I bought my license, it was a boxed edu license from the ebay. Not crippled in any way. No background checks either, from the seller or NI. was around $160. Win.

And then, I discovered that reaktor is actually easily worth the normal asking price.
but ya, shop around.

in terms of musical content - Reaktor obliterates M4L without breaking a sweat. And it's not locked into Live.
If M4L's content is ever going to match that of Reaktor, it's going to take quite some time.

^ you're among many people who think this, and I don't necessarily disagree. But I'm looking for sosftware that blows wide open the performance aspects of Live, so M4L is a better option for me. But again, this is just a speculative thing. If anyone is interested in selling, I'd love to know what you want to sell for and if there's a deal to be made.

The guy knows what he wants! Fair enough - just seemed like Reaktor would be more to your taste.
Insane value for money, instantly musical - etc.

at any rate, re:M4L - good luck.

I have mad respect for Reaktor, but one thing I've learned is that the more you can do, the less you actually get done, so I'm all about limiting myself right now with my tools. You're right, Reaktor is literally unlimited potential, and personally, that's what concerns me in my ability to get anything done.

Granted M4L has the same philosophy, but rather than build synths and effects in it, I'm looking for ways to add performance abilities with it. So yeah, I'm looking for a specific use. Honestly, I'd be fine with using other's tools and just getting a M4L runtime for about $100. But that's not a current offering, so I will see if I can make do with the full tool.

I know it sounds kinda strange, but I really look at open-ended tools as a curse rather than a blessing. I know for most others, it's the opposite.

Well, I'm sure you know what Reaktor is and M4L etc.
But I wasn't even thinking about you getting under the hood of reaktor, I was recommending it to you purely as a suite of musical tools, synths, samplers, drum machines, fx, sequencers, etc.

Really, an amazing environment. And truly multi-platform to boot.

Yeah, trust me, I know. Martyn was here a few weeks ago, and he showed me what Reaktor can do if you're experienced with it...just out of the box, there were SO MANY COOL TOOLS, it was literally mad!

Hey, Nebulae,
I'd like to sell my license. I'm asking $200 US. That would save you about a $100. Let me know if you're interested and we could then find out how to go about it.

Just bought M4L from darjammar - Thanks a bunch for the sale and for making it painless. Hope this feedback is useful to you when you sell things in the future. Much much appreciated.

^I'll let darjammer answer that if he so chooses. I don't like marginalizing a marketplace, especially since every sale is under different circumstances, thereby effecting the value or perceived value of a product in a 2nd hand sale. Suffice it to say that I generally start my negotiations on a secondary sale at about 50% of retail price, and we go up from there.

Fair enough,

we can at least deduce it passed hands for less than $200 ... unless you're a charitable man. :P
