How to select and move ALL volume info?
How to select and move ALL volume info?
Welll I guess I need to get in the habbit of turning down the loud parts, and not turning up the quiet parts. I have a session with a lot of volume envelope points on all the tracks. So of the stuff still isnt loud enough though, and turning them up more will distort them. So is there a way to select all the volume edits points on every track and drag them all down at once?
Re: How to select and move ALL volume info?
You can either throw a Utility on the track, and use that as your master fader. Or if you highlight an entire track, you can drag the points up or down (keep in mind that this is kind of destructive). If you drag them down, it shrinks the amount of difference in amplitude. If you drag them up, it drags everything up at once, so once you do this.. there is no going back. Which is why I would suggest instead adding a Utility and automating the volume on that. Still, if you see a good opportunity for dragging your points, have at it.
Re: How to select and move ALL volume info?
I want to do what you described secondly, drag the edit points down. But I want to do it on ALL tracks at once. I cant seem to select edit points on more than one track at a time.
Re: How to select and move ALL volume info?
it is better to do this the other way round - use the utility to edit volume changes or if you are using something like sampler/impulse etc then use the volume controls on that - use the mixer fader as the master volume control on your tracksyur2die4 wrote:You can either throw a Utility on the track, and use that as your master fader.
to adjust the volume on all tracks - select all tracks by using shift click and then adjusting one volume will adjust them all

Can't seem to get shift click to work. Anybody know any other way to select all breal points on all tracks in a project and move them all at once?

inky
- click and hold in the grid where the automation is - say at the point where you want to start to alter the automation
- while clicking and holding - drag the mouse over the entire area of automation that you want to change
- this will highlight the area - release the click
- now click onto one of the automation lines (not the breakpoint node or dot..whatever it is called)
- move the line up or down and all of the automation envelopes in the highlighted area will move

also
if you want to move all of the automation in the track -
arrangement - right click on the track title and choose select track content - click and move on the automation lines as described above
session - in the sample editor click cmd - a (mac) for select all - click and move on the automation lines as described above

Re: How to select and move ALL volume info?
Sorry, buzby, guess I'm not explaining myself well. I'm trying to figure how to move all the break points on ALL THE TRACKS in arrangement view, not just one at a time. If I do as you say and select everything, and then click on one envelope and drag up or down, it only moves the breakpoints for one track. Maybe it's just not possible to move all the breakpoints in every single track, aka the whole live set at the same time?
Re: How to select and move ALL volume info?
no you cant select all the break points in all of the tracks at once
but if you use the utility or the device volume controls to automate your volume in the arrangement and then use the mixer/track volume on each track to adjust the overall volume then ...
- in the session view click onto the track title bar of your first track - press shift and then click onto the title track bar of the last track, this will select all tracks
- then click onto the mixer/track volume fader on one track, move it and all the track volume faders will move together - the volume changes in all tracks in the session view will correspond in the arrangement view
is nt this what you are trying to achieve?
sorry if im missing something here too

Re: How to select and move ALL volume info?
Hi.you could also try selecting them all as buzby describes and ctrl/clik one and group them all..Then see if using the volume for the group channel will work for your needs..Jon
