Thats exactly what I thought when I saw that demonstration where the Lemur would know the clip colors and names.

I'm sure the iPad will be a big success, and it's reach widespread. But that won't be purely on the back of electronic musicians. And I really doubt it will be at the cost of the lemur.

Besides, jazzmutant are merely the multimedia branch of stantum, a company that operates on the industrial level...and furthers the development of touchscreen technologies... etc

purely economic speculation, but if jazzmutant aren't losing the parent company money - I don't see why you'd shut it down.

From the video's that I have seen, it seems that you can control two devices at one time. Hopefully there will be a lot more information soon.

I hate when you pop a DVD in the player and the first 30 seconds of credits is accompanied by complete silence so you start fucking around with the volume wondering what's up and when the sound finally kicks in you scare the shit out of yourself and the neighbors. I'd like to now add internet videos to that hate category.

Cool stuff though, but not cool enough to sway my bank account in favor of a lemur and M4L.

Should be interesting to see what comes of this.

Yup. Too little too late. Jazzmutant should have done this a long time ago. Now it feels like a desperate attempt to save itself. No way that justifies the cost of a $2000 Lemur and $300 M4L. I'll wait for the iPad solution like everyone else.

fixipoos

And if this functionality was possible 'a long time ago' , it would have been done 'a long time ago'. This is done through M4L - as you know - and up until M4L the only control data moving in and out of live was a limited midi protocol.

lol, who let's these retards on the net? Mac V PC!!! Lemur V Ipad!!! ... jesus christ. They've got the frustrated, fanatical enthusiasm of a kind of cross between a severe stroke victim and a football hooligan, and the penchant for soap opera that you'd usually only find in old senile women who piss themselves.

All you Lemur fanboys can continue to defend your investment. But for the rest of us, even if such a solution was only tied to M4L (which it isn't. Think Python + Live API), there is still a significant difference between

$2000 Lemur + $300 M4L
and
$500 iPad + $300 M4L

I'm not going to defend it
that's the point.

You're the one who's gung-ho about 'lemur v ipad'. Talking in dramatic terms like you're watching some tired soap unfold.

I congratulate you on your enlightened decision to buy an iPad.
