Post by slatepipe » Tue Mar 09, 2010 3:06 pm

i know ctr/alt/r opens and closes the return tracks in session view but is there any way i can get them to open and close just by assigning a keyboard or controller button?

thanks feller, though im a bit out of my depth here. i installed bome's classic translator and midiyoke and opened the program. when i tried to select midi in as my uc 33 it said there was not enough memory to perform the operation.....

some of this midi stuff fries my brain

well...it means the driver is in use by another program...(for drivers that can't handle more than 1 app.)
try disabling it in live...
select it as input in bomes..
then choose an output midiyoke port in bomes... also enable 'midi thru'..(it will pass through to live midi it doesn't use)
select the same yoke# as input in live...(for track/remote/whatever else..)

Bomes is overkill for this type of stuff. I highly recommend QuicKeys for mapping midi controls to keyboard shortcuts/menu items/mouse clicks. I have a button on my nanoKontrol mapped to the keyboard shortcut for opening/closing returns using QuicKeys. And QuicKeys stays out of the way in the background so you don't have to think about it again once you've set it up. You just launch Live and it's always working.
