So I have a rather simple request, but I can't for the live of me figure out how one would do this.
In performing, I am the "master" computer of a two laptop setup. The other computer is running Live through my MacBook, so his Ableton's tempo/beat/everything else is dictated by my settings in Ableton. What I want to do is figure out how to quantize the play button so that I can do full mix syncopated builds. For example:
If I have a 4 bar loop, I want to be able to go
4 bars > 2 bars > 1 bar > 1/2 bar > 1/4 bar > 1/8 bar > 1/16 bar > 1/32 bar > BAM back to 4 bars.
Think about like a DJ set where the music repeats one note over and over again until there is a release in the next measure.
I realize that I could just set the quantizing to 1/32 and simply manually hit the play button rapidly for the same effect, but I'm hoping that there's a way that I can just automate this so that it won't be out of time or anything like that.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

Re: Quantizing the "play" button
The cleanest thing I can think of is to use some kind of external sequencer, perhaps another program through a MIDI loopback, and sequence the pressing of the play button. You could trigger it to start via a Live clip, thus keeping it in sync, or trigger it by hand, so you'd only have to get the timing right once.
Maybe this works? It's only a thought experiment for me, I've never tried such a thing.
But it sounds like you have an awesome setup so I hope it works for you... best of luck!
