some interesting live recording issues.

Post by mattderby » Fri Apr 01, 2005 3:49 pm

I am sorry trouble people with this but im stuck.

Let me set the scene:
I want to record guitar loop on track 2 in ableton live (So both my hands are busy). I then need to drop out of record(without using my hands), and have the loop continue playing.

Simple it sounds. hmm. Here are my options:

1. Assign a midi controller to the Track Arm
This drops out immediately, not on a quantisation point

2. Using the track STOP button
The recording will not loop

3. Assign a MIDI controller to each clip (1,2,3,4,5 etc)
Only have one foot pedal

4. Ah haaaa Click the mouse on the clip itself
Hurrah..this does the trick, it finishes recording on a quantise point, AND loops automatically. But I need a thired arm.

Anysuggestions?

What it seems to me is that ableton should allow a preference so that when you un-track ARM a track during recording, it will drop out of record on a quantise point?

does this make sense, or is there really an easier way to do it and Im being really silly

Many thanks

Matt
