Live 8.1.1. suite has "stopped working correctly"

I have had nothing but trouble with live and windows 7!

I installed Native Instrument VST's then attempted to scan for vst's in live and the whole thing has crashed and now will not open.

When I try to open live i get the following notice:

Live 8.1.1.has stopped working correctly . Windows will close the programe and notify you if a solution is available.

It seems to have happened because I was trying to locate vst's with ableton, why is this and will I have to install live again? Even if i do reinstall live it will only crash again as i try to locate my vst's.

Delete the file Preferences.cfg found in C:\Users\"User"\AppData\Roaming\Ableton\Live 8.1.1\Preferences and restart live.
If it still crashes, uninstall your vsts and then reinstall them one at a time untill you find the one thats causing the crash.
If you don't want to uninstall them, you could try moving them out of your vst folder, and then moving them back in one at a time, doing a rescan after each one.

I had to take my computer back to original settings and reinstall everything, then while trying to get live to locate vst's again more problems. Currently seems to be crashing, black screen etc. nothing happening for the past 40 mins. All the same symptoms as last time which led to me having to reset the whole computer! After reinstalling everything it had been working fine except I could not access any plugings, which is pointless for the work I do. I could have made an album in the time its taken me so far to deal with this. I cant close live for fear of being sent down the snake and back to the start. This doing my head in, will be bald and skint at the end of this.

Lost Live altoghter now!!!

It is on the computer but will not open!

So will have to reinstall again! But appears I will not be able to use plugins at all. Everytime I try it crashes! I have never had these problems with earlier versions and useing XP. I have spent two weeks trying to get this to run properly and I have essay deadlines in a week.

I cant even phone Ableton to scream at somone about it!
