Live and Video Question

Post by giblespaul89 » Thu Mar 11, 2010 1:01 pm

I’ve seen a couple of clips of Live being used with a video feature. What I’m trying to do was to make a video that can be synced with the music we’re playing on Live and then ideally link that up to a television screen/projector that we bring on stage. So we’ve got Live playing the music and then simultaneously playing the synced video.

The first main problem I thought was that if the TV/projector was set up to show a picture of the screen, even with a movie player box, it would still show the Live session screen every time I went to change sets on Ableton and look a bit rubbish if it was projected. I could use another laptop to play the video completely separately but then it raises the issue of syncing things. For example if we were to play a track and for whatever reason the music needed an extra bar (string snapped/we got bottled :D ) and we have to extend a part to make up for it. The music and the video would be completely out of sync.

It’s just an idea and I’m sure I’m missing loads of practicalities and so forth. However as a theory; do you reckon it would be possible? If so would anyone have an idea how to do so?

Thanks in advance
