Importing Audio - First beat is muffled - Help

Post by D.R.F. » Thu Mar 11, 2010 4:57 pm

Hello.

I'm using Maschine to create some beats and then I export the audio and import it back to Live. For example, I'm importing a 16 beat pattern. What happens when I play it on Live is that the first beat of the audio loop, is a bit muffled, while the rest is fine. I have warp turned off. If I consolidate the clip and set it to loop, at the beginning of every cycle I'll hear the muffled beat. But if I duplicate the clip (without setting the Loop feat on), the muffled beat is only heard at the start and then disappears. When I import a new clip and place it next to the one I'm working on, it will do the same thing.

Can anyone explain me what's this all about? How can I import it correctly? Thanks

Yeah something about the first kick drum having a fade on it, yet there was no option to turn it on and off.. There's info in this forum about, and I believe Robert Henke commented on it, try doing a search..

I had no idea this was an issue. I thought it was knowledge lack on my part. I'll do a search to see if I can find a way around it.

In reference to fades, if it is a loop you may want to make sure you dont have a fade placed at the beginning. Unless you have the option turned off Ableton will automatically add one.

I think I turned mine off, forgot how. What bugs me though is that any of the previous samples I had loaded where Live made an analysis file for them and applied the fade, the samples still retain that darn fade.. gr. I guess I could just delete a few ALS files. It isn't for anything thats actualy warped heheh.

Theres a fade button in the clip props.. I remember looking for it and it wasn't there, then I looked again later and it was.. It would make my clips hesitate EVERY time they started over again, very frustrating..

You can right click a sample in arrangement and select "show fades" to see if a fade has been applied. Then you can just drag it over to remove it. There is an option in preferences that stops it from auto fading, I personally prefer to keep it on as I use a lot of fades myself anyways so I just take them out when not needed. Check for fade in the manual index too, it will point you to the details on this.

If you are in Session view, its a different story, you would have to uncheck the "fade" box in your clip properties.

Thank you for the reply. I'll try doing that in a couple of hours when I'm in front of Live

It worked. Thanks for the help.

Right click on clip, selecting "Show Fades" and either manually deleting the fades or right click on fade curve and deselect "create fade on clip edges"
