Quick Question about de-active clips, follow action & APC/LP

Hi all,

I'm Nowhere near my setup for a while but had a brain wave and wondered if anyone can try this...?

If you deactivate a clip in Session View, does the LED on either the APC or LaunchPad go Blank as well or does it stay orange to indicate a clip is there?? I think this would be great if it was blank...

Also - Can a deactive clip respond to follow actions???

Reason being, I want follow actions to go down scene by scene firing the clips, but I don't want Clips with no audio playing as you just have a full screen of LEDS and makes it hard to navigate around the control surface - HOWEVER, if you delete the SILENT clips, the follow actions get messed up and you can't leep-frog a blank space, and therefore the next scene that may have audio won't be triggered automatically. So a Deactive Clip that could still respond to Follow actions would be ACE, whilst also providing Visual feedback that No audio is currently playing on that track....

i hope someone comes back woth goog news, otherwise this will be my next feature request!!!

what's a deactivated clip? one with the volume turned down? that term to me means using ctrl-e to deactivate the stop button for a clip.


as far as I've seen the LEDs on the LP and APC light up as long as a clip is in a clip slot. then it changes color depending on whether or not it's playing back.

If You right Click on a clip in Sess view you have the option the 'Deactivate clip' - basically turn the clip activator button on or off. If there's no clip in what they call a 'Clip slot' then you're right - that will erase the square stop button....

Having now got back home, I can see that cmd+E on an actual clip will just gray it out and give it a stop button...this to me i think is pointless - you may as well just not have a clip in there at all...On the LEDS on the APC it shows a clip is present but I would like if Deactivated clips would appear Gray on a hardware device to show that no Audio is present on that channel. Which you would if no clip was present sure....

BUT by deactivating the clip, you are also foregoing its use as a follow action instructor, which I think sucks - I guess I'll have to accept it'll need to be a blank Active clip with no audio if I want to instruct a follow action...I think a clip should be more versatile than this...One for the feature requests I think.
