With all this glitchy, wobbly and techy music.......
Is there anyone out there who's willing to spend a little extra time and a little effort to create a melody?
I like trance.

Ya nobody plays the damn keys we just like making beats.. Anyone I know who actually plays an instrument is in hippy jam bands, so unless I sample them, it's all gonna be trippy glitch soundscape type shit.. but who cares IT FEELS GOOD TO WOMP!chewy wrote:Well yes, hence my question.outershpongolia wrote:haha coming from the guy with "I like trance" in his sig..

You might be in the wrong place my man..
Re: With all this glitchy, wobbly and techy music.......
Can the original poster name this glitchy, wobbly music he's taking an issue with? I love to listen to glitch but the good stuff still has quality melodies: four tet, nosaj thing, flying lotus, pantha du prince... even autechre bury fragmented melodies within their more difficult albums.
Perhaps the problem is that you're listening to shit?

Check this fellow out-
http://www.myspace.com/rhythmik24
Saw him at Maitreya last weekend. He opened the main stage and was funky, glitchy, wobbly, techy, jazzy and musical.
Fun, fun fun.
I love Rythmik!

yeah. I'd say stop listening to music you don't like. Melody seems a bit subjective to me- with even filter sweeps and retrigger rates capable of playing a melodic role. I suppose sustained drones and inharmonic drum tracks are low on melody- but theres hardly an oversupply.

Creating a good melody requires that elusive thing we call "talent"; using technology does not.
Re: With all this glitchy, wobbly and techy music.......
true. I'd say the same is true for beatmaking. Plenty of music made by nomarks, plodders and imitators. Still- same availability of tools means less talent without means
Re: With all this glitchy, wobbly and techy music.......
but it requires an instrument which is a product of technology... be it a guitar or a 303... its not what you use, but it's how you use it.oblique strategies wrote:Creating a good melody requires that elusive thing we call "talent"; using technology does not.
