As with the latest version of (OSX 10.6) PPC machines are not supported. Apple has good reasons for doing this:
1) It bloats the hard to make Universal Binary programs. Its like writing the same program twice...for two different company's processor. (PPC uses discontinued IBM CPUs, Apple is currently using Intel). That takes more time for development, updates and support.
2) It halts progress of the company because they need to make sure their NEW technology is backwards compatible (not really a good thing for innovative solutions).
I know it must suck for those who bought G5 models as they dated very fast, but c'mon you G4 users...wake up and update. I fully understand holding on to your PPC for legacy software and specific reason, but don't expect future support to last long from 3rd party vendors.

Another thing- Apple at the 2005 WWDC said that UB was only a transitional phase.

Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
Hi guys,
I'm trying to use the template for live 7 provided by NI in maschine controllers templates.
there are some weird things:
(or things I don't really understand, since there is no documentation on this template...)
- volumes don't display the real live values
- the 4*4 grid doesn't do any feedvack on live's gui (where the frak am I???)
- the 4*4 grid can go waaaaaay far more further on the right, even when there is no track anymore!!!??? it should STOP as it does for the upper and left sides of the session view) (where the fracking frack am I ???)
- what's the deal with "mute", and "pattern" buttons? sems still a bit buggy? you can lauch a clip when "pattern" is on, but you can't stop the clip (but you can if lauching another one in the same track of course), you can mute the clip (set it "off") with the "mute" button activated, but unmuting it doesn't let it play again, you have to relaunch it
- why is "note repeat" allways flashing?
- the blue arrows used to browse the session grid doesn't respond really well, sometimes OK, sometimes not..???
so my question is:
Do someone of you use this template sucessfully?
Could you explain the workflow, tips or tricks???
cheers

new thread for live maschine templates, it's in the tips and tricks section, so I thought I should link it here so as all of you could join the thread and share ideas (and even templates?)
cheers

Just got Maschine. Immediately updated to version 1.1 and now Ableton crashes when loading template (or any other project).

Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
what do yo mean? "template" in the maschine controller? "template" in live?Ableton crashes when loading template (or any other project).
what's your Live version? live templates provided by NI for the maschine controller won't work with live 6 or lower... gotta have 7 or 8.
Be sure you check your midi mappings in live, to avoid having conflicts...
but I can't be of a great help, I didn't really try long with masschine IN live, for now I'm learning the maschine almost exclusively as standalone...
good luck!

Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
Hi,
I'm running mashine 1.1
is there a way to fix the default pattern lenght?
it is 1 bar and I'd like to have a default 4 bars pattern lenght...
any way or is the 1.5 update needed?
cheers

Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
another question :
I'm struggling to use the massive template for the maschine controller within live
2 midi tracks:
-1 for maschine
-2 for Massive
massive.mca copied into several folders (application support/native instruments/massive/mca and applications/massive/mca)
massive template loaded into maschine controller
...
Live prefs:
maschine controller as a control surface
and maschine midi in and out ON for track and remote
but...
nothing seems connected between maschine controller and massive
what's the good setup????
any of you managed this?
cheers

Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
just create an empty maschine file that has everything set up as you like it and use it for each project as a template.monstrejumo wrote:Hi,

i think you can automatically point maschine to this file in 1.5 but the workaround above is super easy to do.

Re: Maschine and Ableton users- what kind of fun are you having?
thanks, I'll do that while waiting to 1.5 official release, thanks
I've had my fisrt whole-night-gigging with a friend.
So sweet with only the maschine under my hands, the synths provided bu the friend.
I had nothing preprogrammed, and was instantly able to lay down some beats, patterns, while improvising with the friend,
Maschine is a great improvisation tool, and the library is sweet to browse the sounds really easily!
One thing I noticed, that when you save your live set the patterns recorded in maschine are not saved in the project,
After loosing one night of pattern sequences, I guess I'll never forget to save the maschine project before quitting live!!!!
Great stuff, I feel my musician freedom coming back!
cheers
