I'm using Live Intro 8.0.9 on a Dell Inspiron 530 Core2 Duo with 320GB HDD, 3GB ram, Windows XP Home with SP3. My sound card is a NI Rig Kontrol 3.
Occasionally I'll get a horrendous noise blast during playback. It sounds like a shotgun going off about one foot from my face. It also sounds like when you drop a guitar amp with a spring reverb tank while the amp is turned on.
Here is what I have tried to isolate/eliminate the problem:
Rolled back my sound card (Rig Kontrol) driver.
Defragged the hard drive.
Disabled all background services.
Removed all VSTe and VSTi from the set.
Disabled all Hi-Q from the clips.
Deleted all clips that were 11K and 22K sample rate - all clips now are 44.1KHz.
It is impossible to do any composition on Live the way it is currently running.
I must say that Live is the coolest, most elegant and powerful DAW I've ever used and I'm dying to get this sorted out so I can start using it.
Has anyone had any similar problems? Any ideas on what I might test or check would be greatly appreciated.
I have used this computer for about two years with Reaper, Cubase, Tracktion, Acid, Sound Forge and Studio One without any problems remotely like this.
EDIT: This noise happens at exactly the same place (6:25) on the track but does not happen on every pass. Is is as though something has to happen to "prep" the conditions for the blast to occur.
In addition, I do remember years ago having the same noise when I loaded up the .dxi version of BBE Sonic Maximizer in a host (Tracktion) that would not run .dxi effects or instruments.

Re: Loud Noise Blast
Were you ever able to isolate the source of the problem. Did you fix it yet or are things getting rather smelly around your studio? Has it happened again since then? What have you tried to get rid of that screamin' bitch?bazgria wrote:YEAH MATE I HAD THIS NOISE TWICE!!!! I CRAPPED OFF MY PANTS when it happened!!!! LOOOL It was so scary! My volume was high! Re: Loud Noise Blast
Sorry to revive this old thread, but I just had this happening.
Live's own reverb on some busses started bursting out a mayhem on white noise, clipping every single fader and giving me a huge shock.
I should mention I'm automating sends to those busses.
This noise comes through with a volume of +26.99 db!
Volume was quite loud cause I was soloing some parts.
This is really unacceptable.
Someone nows what's causing this and more importantly how to get rid of it?
Don't want to get permanent hearing damage because of a stupid bug ...

This users (TequilaKez) has exactly the same problem so I'm not the only one it seems

Re: Loud Noise Blast
Had the very same issue with an m-audio fast track pro.
Have just been using aiso4 all for past few months with no similar problems.
Hope it wont return when I get my next soundcard...?

Re: Loud Noise Blast
yea i've had this happen too. was Live's reverb device that seemed to do the damage.
