Should be interesting to see which direction they are going to go in, especially now they have Record.

Re: Propellerhead Test Pilots?
WORD....I hope that they improve workflow and live performance because I can't take the crashes anymore. I know they will not (let me say I highly doubt) they will have midi out, but for the love of god I LOVE THE STABILTY. You know it is solid when they put a product every couple years.
Ableton sent me back to reason because I was pulling out my hair. HERE COMES REASON 5, the boys have lead the industry each time they come out with an upgrade. Just watch I predict that ableton will put out 9 to try to snag market share and probably have a repeat of what SOME of us just went thru (and are STILL DEALING WITH)
I really hope this makes ableton SHAPE UP, but for some reason
I doubt it....
THANKS for keeping folks in the loop, THIS MADE MY WEEK

I think the abe's need to worry about the prop's & reason, all they need is a playable session view to go in record & reason and live will be dead to me and many others, the new lower price of reason & record as a combo puts the live suite to shame in terms of instruments and sound quality as well as free available refills to expand your sound selection.
thor, subtractor, malstrom and the NNXT etc... absolutely kill analog, operator and whatever the hell else the suite has(IMO).
live wins at the drum racks vs redrum fight, but that will most likely be one of the updated features.
if reason/record had a session view with some good DJ styled FX, repeaters & reverse that worked live it would replace Live for many people's need while offering far superior instruments and traditional linear sequencing/mixing.

Re: Propellerhead Test Pilots?
If Reason / Record incorporate a sexy slicing workflow based on (but not requiring seperate version of) Recycle this will be a sweet package. The only thing Record was missing for me was ways to slice and dice audio - the mixer sounds phenomenal. Record audio into Record - sexy slicing to NNXT would be amazing. I'm not so convinced they need a session view.

You can slice and dice in many ways using rex and nn-xt. I often use a beatsynced random lfo controlling different matrix banks, where I have copy and pasted and altered patterns for each bank.
Actually slice`n`dice is a strong feature in Reason if you have recycle, lots of opputunities with assigning vlocity zones in nnxt etc

agreed - I think what I'm looking for is the ability to do this right out of audio clips in record - would be sick. You can slice and dice in many ways using rex and nn-xt. I was thinking the other day that everyone wants LFO's that can be patched into any parameter in Live and Reason has really had this for years with the Matrix....

Re: Propellerhead Test Pilots?
reason is a great toy for all you pc users....
Re: Propellerhead Test Pilots?
Record is really cool, but really cluttered I think. The editing features of Record 1.0 are very "primitive" imho. You can't even reverse audio, you'll have to use the NN-XT to do that. There's too much mouse clicking imho, and even though you can hide some parts of the channel strip it's still a lot of scrolling etc. I've been a huge fan of Reason, had it since 1.0, and I do like Record and how it integrates with Reason, but it's still far from being the end all DAW imho. I love the efficiency and stability though, I have to admit!
Ableton will hopefully sort out the crashing and other issues that people (me included) are experiencing soon, and then we will all talk about how great Live is again.
