i'm surprised no one is chiming in on this. i think its pretty sweet. ive been surfin around for random buttons and knobs ever since i first read about this. i've seen other similar diy midi controller boards, but this kit seems to be the most customizable so far. that, and being a soldering novice, i'm drawn to the support(the tutorials and such)that they offer.
i will probably get in on this sometime in the next year.

Tbh I don't see the big deal... There's cheaper (and arguably better) stuff already on the market for ages pitched at the same level of soldering ability, e.g. http://www.halemicro.com/Products/Products.html
And, for a little soldering/electronics effort, Arduino and midibox have offered a much larger range of options and customisation for donkey's years now, with a big user/support base.
What's new with the Livid?

I just ordered one, i'll post a report when i have had more of a chance to try it. I have used doepfer in the past, but they don't have usb. That hale micro device doesn't look like it does too much only 32 inputs, this had alot more and midi jacks too. I plan on building a huge controller do may end up needed 2. arduino looks cool to, though I don't have the chops i am afraid to use it

competition is good, it's another reputable company making modular doodads, we'll have to see how intrepid builders find the quality. Perhaps they're just finding out about it right now via this thread ?8O wrote:What's new with the Livid?
*shrug*
I dunno, it beats posting a thread about sting's thoughts on american idol.

I beg to differ!

One of the nice aspects of the Livid, "Brain" is that it comes with a nice little max patch that configures all of the expected voltages and other elements. There is basically no need to code. It's great for people who want to get into the DIY scene, but know little about programming.
