it's the part of a DAW that crunches on audio and interfaces with your sound card.

in Live if you click on the CPU % meter you can turn the sound engine on and off. why? if you want to launch another instance of Live only one can have the sound engine on. or if you want another application to use your sound card you might have to turn off Live's sound engine so the other app can access the sound card.

it has Overdrive!

if Ableton made a car would we buy it? it would probably have unintended deceleration.

whatever happened to German engineering?? makes me sad to be of German descent and an engineer.

Tone, I think you need to change that signature. I aint likin no love pump.
Respect to the Germans, especially when it comes to engineering.
Me..I have no decent.

Now, I want some German to spare me the time of going googling and give me a layman's explanation for an audio sound engine. At the very least, to the extent that could make one differ from the next.

No,no,no you are geographically confused. BMW and Audi are in Bavaria, Porsche and Mercedes around Stuttgart that is former West Germany ( where Samplitude, Logic, Cubase come from)

Ableton HQ is located in former East Communist Germany aka DDR, German Democratic Republic. Here some samples of DDR automobile industry Auto aus Pappe /Cardboard car aka Trabant

Live 8 engine was modeled after Trabant, based on original Russian algo - "kolyiebyotsia ne lamiyotsia" (freely translated "it shakes but does not break"
Live 8 definitely "kolyebyotsia" like a drunken Babushka , as we all know Ableton crew still work on the second part of the algo- "nye lamyotsia" (Does not break) .

Live`s version 1- 4 versions were modeled after Wartburg - note the green tone!

Green Wartburg in all its glory is Robert`s own, the one behind belongs to Dom
