then it should work, if it is a normal footswitch.

in case you are worried, go to the genelec forum, ask the question and someone from genelec will answer in under 24 hours.

but hey yes, the switch just short circuits the tip / sleeve and that is what you need.

it is only a momentary switch, you need an on/off type, like the link i provided, google for monacor footswitch in your country.

I also have a pair of 8030 and am so happy with them! No sub but I do loads of A/B comparisons with commercial tracks of the same genre as mine, for bass management especially. As you said very very revealing, often to the point of embarrassment. I have learned how to mix down with them and have been praised for the clarity of my mix by the engineer you mastered my album recently. I think the 8030 have had a prominent role here.
I sometimes A/B my mixes on a pair of Dynaudio BM5A but never really like what I hear. Hard to describe but I feel the 8030 are really really dry compared to the dynaudio. Less flattering and very clinical. On the BM5A, things sounds too good to be true and less precise if that makes sense.
I would also praise the 8030 for their stereo imaging and the depth. You can really craft 3D environments with them.

If you get the 8030 could I also recommend you made sure your soundcard is up to the game. In my case I went from m-audio to the apogee duet and it completely transformed the experience of mixing.

that's also the problem i had with the Dynaudio's.verv good(bm15A&bm12a that is,bm6a was nowhere near the Genelec 8030),but a little too flattering for my taste.
i already have an Apogee Duet,sounds so good and revealing.

and i will repeat this a million times if necessary, pay a lot of attention to the setup / positioning.

you will loose a lot of the speakers ability and what you hear (and that accounts for ANY monitor speaker) if you just slam it onto your desk or squeeze them into the room corner mindless.

i really love them, even though my room is shite and i have no soundcard right now... i really love them...
they cant really get the low end going but the rest is dead on!... when i need it, i go to the larger studio and use the 1032s...

i'm going to check out these with the Genelec 7050 Sub.

That's what I've got. A pair of 8030A and a 7050B sub. It's lovely. It's so nice to have at least one part of my studio totally figured out and done! It's a really nice combo to own.

well, i don't want to come across as an arse, but i just know that it is true.

the big problem is that dance tracks are typically heard on club PAs or in cars where the bass is unnaturally over emphasised like mad, and most people think it has to sound the same over monitors while they mix in the studio, in order to come up with a good fat bass in the track, that is just so wrong!
a good mix is a totally levelled harmony on monitors, then it cracks on bass over emphasised PAs in clubs.
