Setting clips to record a certain length...

I'm just getting back into using Live and I don't know if I'm nuts or what. I swear this was possible and I used to do it, I just can't remember how.

How do I make a clip record for a certain amount of time? And when that time is done, have the clip play and loop while letting me overdub more on top of it?

For MIDI clips. Create an empty clip by double clicking and set the length in the clip view Notes box. Then record with the OVR button enabled on the transport.

For audio you have to use the arrangement view. Look up Punch in, Punch Out and Arrangement Loop in the manual. You can't overdub, but you can do multiple takes. For audio overdubbing you need the Looper plugin.
