Hi, I'm a very longtime Cubase user completely addicted to the very in-depth MIDI editing possible in Cubase. FWIW I am still using Cubase SX, which is rock solid on my PC; both $ and worries about straining my PC have kept me from upgrading.
I started using Live and really appreciate the different ways to create music that it presents. At this pint I'm using Live 50%, Cubase 50% of my studio time.
SO, the question is, what is the best way to beef up Live's primitive MIDI editing? Options include:
1. EnergyXT as a VST or via rewire
2. Reaper as a VST or via rewire
3. some other less well-known VST or rewire, e.g. Zynewave Podium
4. if none of the above get close enough to Cubase, rewire Cubase... though I suspect that my PC will choke. It could be that really addressing this must await the next computer upgrade, but that is 1-2 years off at least.
A program that has full-bodied MIDI editing and a light CPU load is the order of the day.
I've seen a few post on other forums about these various combinations, some rather dated. Has anyone else explored several of these options, and able to offer a pros and cons analysis? Your help would be much appreciated!
