Any Cycling 74 Mode users out there?

Post by crt » Sat Apr 02, 2005 1:51 pm

Hey, all. i am a big fan of pluggo, but I've been checking out MODE on the cycling 74 website and it looks intriguing.

but what's the difference?

does anyone have and use both?

likes? dislikes?

thanks!

I own Pluggo, and I've messed about with Mode. I can tell you that the sound quality of Mode is far superior to Pluggo, but you only get a handfull of plug-ins for the same price. I'd say it's still a decent buy though.

I've been looking at Mode since they reduced the price to $99
but really, i need to curb my plugin acquisition.
things have gotten out of hand, and it doesn't help that i was just given Vokator for my birthday :)
or that my favorite synth in the world is free.

the mode stuff looks nice though. and i'm a sucker for < $100 products.

hows cpu usage in the different Mode modules?

i never found pluggo's sound quality to be all that bad. :?

But maybe I've not been listening close enough.

I may pick up both just because I wuv Pluggo. and i have some cash to burn.

I think it's about time to sell some hard synths. they are gathering serious dust. :(

yeah, i have been getting a ton of pllugs lately. I bought $220 of plugins from audiodamage.com - they threw in deverb for freeee!!! :D :D

but it was more than $100? cuz back in the dizzay, pluggo was like $77 for 77 plugins. I can kind of see playing $199 for it, but...

I'm just wondering if the combo of Pluggo and Mode is redundant or not. It looks wicked cool.

okay, I'm gonna go see what I can sell so I can get it with a minimum of guilt.

i didn't mean to bash pluggo. while it's not fantastic, it is definitely usable. i just meant to highlight the fact that Mode sounds a lot better.

yes - I'm looking forward to the "Green Raptor"

re: Mode's CPU efficiency - I find it to be very good for the abilities it gives you. I can't get the Poly Synth to go above 17% on my 1.467GHz G4. ImpOSCar gets to around 27% for a comparison. The effects seem to hover right around 13%. These numbers are according to the Live CPU meter, btw.

I was interested in this at $199 and when I saw it at $99 I went right to C74 and bought it last night. And I just sold a bunch of plugs because I bought way too many over the past year

Hi, my name is parma and I'm a plugaholic

hey crt, did you also buy the ronin delay from audiodamage? I've been considering it * a lot*, since I'm a sucker for
- Delays
- Saturation effects
- and modular crap.
