OK, he didn't use that exact term. As far as the US news is concerned things have been relatively quiet over there but what that usually means is Israelis are busy doing midnight Home Depot runs and stocking up on 2X4s, rebar, and quick dry cement to start constructing yet another global outrage that they can respond to with "What's the problem?". Can these people ever stop building shit? They're like ants.

But the real pisser here is all the usual suspects defending the past US status quo response that has largely achieved nothing long term.

I can easily be swayed to either side of this conflict but this action by Israel really does beg the question WTF? Maybe they can learn something from the Arabs and build shit up instead of across because nobody is disputing territory that is up in the air.

Israel has no moral high ground as far as I can tell. Their government seems to use even its own people as pawns in a pissing war. Yes, of course they could build UP instead of out....they build in contested areas for purely political reasons, IMO, and then act shocked when the inevitable happens. They have covert programs in their neighbors territory then act outraged when their neighbors retaliate. It's not like the Palestinians came in and invaded THEIR land!

I'm all for an Israeli state, but their pleas for peace are far from genuine and sincere, IMO. They will only be satisfied with total control of the whole area, no sharing, by any means necessary.

it's the usual bs.. nothing new..
this has been going on for a while..(more than 40 years)
fucking politicians and military men playing child games...
trying to make facts by building on the ground..
so later on they can return it in barter ("peace talks")
this type of behavior by our government is part of the reason for this never ending saga..

our current gov.. is mostly from right-wing politics..
(mostly idiots which I dislike )
they're trying to make themselves look better for their voters..(and themselves)
there are no "talks" right now..
and Gaza is currently controlled by Hamas...
all building in the 'west-bank' areas have been halted..
there's a dispute over Jerusalem east/west..
it's still considered our capital ..
but claimed as capital by Palestinians as well
so ..
they're emphasizing by these acts...
that Jerusalem isn't part of the deal..
our government is trying to convey to god knows who ..that Jerusalem is still Israeli territory..
...same deal as with the controversial 'wall'..
and all the while the Palestinian gov refuse to even talk to our current gov..
..even indirectly..through mediators

I personally (and many others I know) think no more moves on the ground should be taken..
before both sides sit down and talk..
and that the gov should help keep the current status-quo
..only wish it were that simple..
but...it's apparently a problem to get both current govs to talk..(not to mention Hamas)
"diplomacy " is basically stuck...yet again

settlements are very small (5-400 families) usually..
smaller than a Kibbutz
and no .. there isn't much land..
and both sides are building furiously..

Are these settlements really necessary for anything beyond being symbolic? And I also have to ask who the fuck would move into properties on disputed land?!? You'd probably laugh your ass off for some of the pussy reasons people here don't want to move into certain neighborhoods.
