Perhaps you are approaching this from the wrong direction,one of these would work, a quick flip, instant darkness,

Blank screen saver... And you'd hit the "Test" or "preview" button or whatever it is..

You'd just need to have that settings palette open.

A nice pair of curtains in front of your monitors would reduce high frequency reflections from your screens and improve your stereo imaging.




you could of course just close your eyes.
