Hello all,
I have a few Midi-mapping questions. I am using Live 8.1.1, on a Mac Powerbook, with an Oyxgen 8 and a Korg NanoKontrol.
I am having problems midi-mapping with both controllers. On the Oxygen, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It seems to work fine when I am in Reaktor standalone. Not sure why it is inconsistent. Anyone have this problem?
On the NanoKontrol, it takes really long to start working. Once it works, it is fine. But like I said.. there is a major lag time. I have seen people do it online and it is instantaneous. Anyone have any tips? Perhaps something I am overlooking?
Midi Mapping questions...

I didn't realize Live 8 still worked on powerbooks.truthiscolor wrote:Hello all,

I would suggest trying an app like MIDI Monitor, as it may show you some clues on what actually is going on.
From your description its hard to tell what exactly the problem is.

Thanks so much for the reply hoffman2k. Actually, I made a mistake. I am on a MacBook Pro, not a Powerbook.

Ah cool. I'm afraid more information will be needed to determine the problem(s).truthiscolor wrote:Thanks so much for the reply hoffman2k. Actually, I made a mistake. I am on a MacBook Pro, not a Powerbook.
Are you using a USB hub? If so, is it 2.0?
Any other devices connected to the same ports?
What do you mean by MIDI Mapping? Using MIDI Learn? Automap?
And as for the nano lagging, you'll need to check with a MIDI Monitor so you know for sure if the signals are getting in delayed or the problem lies elsewhere.

Re: Midi Mapping questions...
Sorry about the lack of info, your patience is GREATLY appreciated!
Ok, I am using a USB 2.0 hub, which the Oxygen 8 is plugged into. The NanoKontrol is plugged into the back of my Monitor.
Sorry if I am using the wrong terms. I am trying to map a function in Live (say from a macro knob in an effect rack) to a knob on my controller(s). I am not using Automap.

Make sure you don't have too much things you don't need enabled in Live's MIDI preferences.
To use the controllers like you describe, you only need the Remote outputs enabled. You may need to enable more things later to get things like feeding notes to MIDI tracks and syncing a device working. But don't worry about that before you tried the basic setup.
If things are still not working properly, try to watch your MIDI data with this: http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/
