HELP! Missing Instruments!

Post by fatmandy » Wed Mar 17, 2010 5:27 pm

Hi Guys

Ive tried a search and looked through the other posts but I cant find the complete answer for this one

My instruments such as Operator, Sampler etc etc are not showing

I have recently upgraded to Live 8

I have authorised the software

I have tried adding the Default Instruments again from the cd, but Live says they are already installed.

I have updated to 8.1.1

I have reauthorised online via preferences, 'authorise'

Can anyone help out? as far as I can see from other posts the instruments are not authorised.... how can I auth them!

Many thanks, need to get this sorted asap as I have a live set on friday and cant import my live 7 tracks as there is no sampler!

Hit me with the Live 8 n00b stick!

- Jon

you might want to try posting this in Support Corner.

I feel like I know the answer to this question but all my brain power is being used to talk smack in the Lounge.

You could also try sending an email to [email protected] or [email protected]

Look in Preferences and check to make sure the instruments are authorized. If not, there should be an authorize button.

You might also look into your online profile on Ableton.com to make sure you are indeed authorized for those instruments.

Live 8 does not include Operator or Sampler; Live 8 Suite does. If you had Live 7 Suite and upgraded to Live 8 Suite, you should have them. I don't know if it is possible to upgrade from Live 7 Suite to Live 8 (not Suite), but if you did, I would not be surprised if these instruments were to go away.

thanks for the emails, ive sent off but if i can get a quick reply here, that would be sweet!

In my default Packages Sampler_v8.1 is included....

Doh, if sampler isnt included this could be quite a large issue for me. Seems like I bought the wrong suite like a muppet... :(

I didnt upgrade 7 to 8, it is a clean install using Live 8 boxed set, my tunes where arranged in 7

The default packages installed are the same for everyone who installs the 1.5gb installer, so don't pay attention to that. You need to log on to your online account at Ableton.com and check to see what is actually authorized on your account. If it's not what you expected, then work with Sales to rectify.

It doesn't surprise me that the Sampler content is included, for two reasons:

(1) I believe you can use that content in Simpler, which is included even if you don't buy Suite.

(2) You can use any of the Live instruments, for which the content is presumably useful, so long as you do so in demo mode.

I don't think it matters whether you do a clean install or install one product over another; what matters is what licenses you bought. If you bought Live 8 as a separate product, rather than as an upgrade from Live 7, then as far as Ableton is concerned, your licenses are completely separate from each other. You may need to contact their customer service folks to get it sorted out.

Ok, thanks for the help guys

I didnt realise that Live 8 only came with impulse, it seems I assumed that sampler was included in this pack.

Ive checked my licenses, Live 8 with one instrument.

So it seems I will have to upgrade to live suite in the future, just been made redundant this afternoon though so will have to wait a bit :( booo!

Seems I have some bouncing of audio to do!

thanks again!

Sampler no, simpler yes.

Before you give up, it would be interesting to know whether you purchased Live 8 completely separately from 7, rather than as an upgrade. Because if so, you might be able to convince the Ableton customer-service people to exchange your Live 8 license for a Live 8 upgrade plus one or more of the instruments you want.
