4 track e.p. free download dub indie breakbeat downtempo

Post by brilburn_logue » Tue Mar 16, 2010 4:29 am

Hi guys,

my first 4 track e.p. 'plutonic' is available for free download on soundcloud:

it's basically a mix of acoustic indie with some orchestral and soundtrack elements. i intend to start performing it all live as a one piece in the coming months, so if anyone is in the kern/ventura county area and they'd like to collaborate or play a show with me, just send a message. thanks for looking, hope you enjoy the music.

I don't normally bump my own stuff, but the response so far to my e.p. has been pretty good, and i think it deserves at least someone's batted eyelash or fleeting glance on the ableton forum :)

humblebee and brown bear are my favorites, but it works well played in its original order:

also, i'll be supporting a pair of punk bands at the Mint in Bakersfield, CA on April 3 if anyone's nearby. It'll be my first show in california.

I really dig this. maybe boost up the drums a bit, but other than that it sounds like a pretty solid mix. I'm curious to see what you'll do for the Vox

great, thanks for the listen man! vox are actually on the way for brown bear (and they'll be on the full-length coming out 6 months or so from now), i'm just waiting on a vocal track from a st. louis emcee named fallout; definitely want to give his stuff a listen if you like hip hop, the guy is amazingly talented: http://soundcloud.com/falloutstl

listened to your tracks, nice stuff.

it sounds like they get better as the playlist progresses. I'd work on your bass EQ-ing, there's some resonance in the bass on some songs, in others the bass is too strong.

what do you monitor with? my guess is that you should treat yourself and upgrade to some nice monitors, your writing and mixing skill level deserves it.

as for not getting feedback, ironically on a music forum this is the most neglected forum. personally I try to review stuff from people that I see contribute elsewhere on the forum. I try to get to most of the links, but I can't always do that.

keep it up, sounds like you're having fun!

oh cool, thanks for the listen, and your feedback is actually really helpful to me man, my monitor/headphone set up is definitely the weakest part of my studio (i'm borrowing a pair of alesis m1 active 320s from my brother and using my own creative headphones with duct tape on them). i'll see what i can do about the bass, i seem to get different mixes in different rooms.

thanks again for the listen and the advice man, at my stage in the game it means a lot.
