How to assign pads, knobs on Ableton?

Post by trixer » Thu Mar 18, 2010 8:34 pm

Hi.
I am new to the Ableton, could someone can explain me how to assign mpd24 to work with Ableton?
I choose and load up Ableton preset in my mpd, but nothing seems to work - even play, stop, record buttons.

Have you chosen your LPD as controll surface in the the Preferences/midi menu?

First of all you can check if Ableton receives midi by obseving the upper right corner next to the midi assignment button.
a yellow light flashes in a small box if live gets a midi event. If it flashes whan you hit a pad your LPD ist propperly connected. You'd assign the functions manually with the ctrl´+ m assignment but I assume you'd rather use the script than assigning the functions manually?

anyway a very good documetnation about this is the live manual or straigt the help functions - midi control surfaces.

have fun

Thing is that the mpd is working i also use midi keyboard, but when i for example load up kick drum in impulse to play it i need to hit bank b pad 9 on my mpd, and on my midi keyboard c3, why it is so?
I mean why it is not assigned to my first pad on my mpd and on c1 on my midi keyboard?
I also will try to find answer on manual.
