So i have a condenser mic and amp, plugged into the mic input on my x-fi sound card, Got my beats set up, but having a bit of time getting it right, How do i silence the audio track that I am going to record vocals on? I turn the track volume down but still get a "echo" like experience because the mic is on. Im not sure if it is suppose to be that way?
A quick response is much appreciated, thanks

Re: Recording in live
set up your Delay Compensation, check the Live Lesson for that.
it only works when monitor on your track is set to OFF.
then use the direct monitor on your sound card to hear the backing track.

Re: Recording in live
thanks, trying to set this up now, what menu can I find these settings?
Re: Recording in live
options-preference-audio
it's not in the manual either.
connect an audio input to an audio output on your soundcard (I use the headphone jack 'cause it's on the front.)
one sample/clip per track, use Arrange view
track 1 - some sample, one with a waveform whos start is easy to find, like a lone kick drum
track 2 - records the output of track 1
track 3 - record the audio input you setup
record what you need then compare track 2's recording with track 3's recording. zoom in all the way and look at the very bottom of the Live GUI, there's a timeline there (only in Arrange view, they removed it from Session view.)
repeat the process until you get it really close, a few milliseconds off is fine.

Re: Recording in live
whats better setup? mme/direct x or asio setup? i got a x-fi and when i go asio, i get creative asio and asio4all v2 as options.
Re: Recording in live
I'm a big fan of ASIO4ALL. MME is much worse.
