noises with ableton looper

Post by manumanu » Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:09 pm

Good afternoon

every time that i press a botton in live (by mouse, by trackpad, by FCB1010) while my loops are playing i hear a noise (the tipical elettric "glintch"). usually the first loop-REC doesn't make rare sounds.
my live setting isn't so complex. i reach 35% CPU usage.
i've a macbook 2.8 core2, 4Gb ram, 7200 HD, motu MKII.

any suggestions?
it's a pity to hear such annoing noise while i'm just trying to add a loop over the "first one"!
thanks, manu

ups, sorry, i thouth u're from spain and ur name sounds like "brother" in spanish
do u have any suggestions?
it seams it's a ram overload, but i think my mac can carry on my live 8 setting...
i don't know...
i bought a boss rc-50 external lopper but i don't like how the sound is sampled. i prefer live looper.
thx, manu

at last one guy who understand my nickname

I often go for some hermaphrodite Anus
Indeed it could be the latin version of Hermano

About Looper, check if you have any midi feedback.
Midi inputs and outputs.
EDIT: better to dedicate one controler than having all inputs and all midi channels

Did you try with a previous version [let say 8.0.x]?
Sorry if I can't help you much.

the only strange stuff is that even if i press the rec-botton by mouse it produce an elettric "glintch".
it shouldn't, isn't?

i didn't try an early version, but madlab did. :|

This may sound silly. But I had a similar issue until I had my computer plugged into a different outlet than my mixer/monitors/power strip.

I've also had it with old external hard drives that used power adapters. It seemed like the computer would make noises in the power conditioner or power strip anytime it was doing any kind of process. Since plugging them to two entirely different sockets, I no longer have that issue.

waa, i'll try!
u mean, in my case, the motu audio device (i play only with headphone) has to be plugged in a different socket than where my macbook is pluged.
mmmm

Also the FB1010 (and any hard drives) should be on a different outlet from your MOTU.

If none of this helps.. well, then I am out of ideas. hahah
